Overview

Express for Energy Data Insights is a fully managed, pay-as-you-go, metered, as-a-Service AWS Marketplace fulfillment model for AWS' Energy Data Insights ("EDI") distribution for the OSDU® Data Platform. Fulfillment options include Platform-as-a-Service (into customer-provided AWS accounts) or Software-as-a-Service (into AWS accounts provided by Express for EDI). Express for EDI allows customers to easily launch multiple instances of the OSDU Data Platform using the fulfillment method and fulfillment parameters that they choose. EDI data platform offerings include dedicated and multi-tenant variants to cover common customer use cases. Express for EDI includes easy-to-use portals, consoles, and user interfaces that allow customers to launch new EDI data platform instances, view their current instance subscriptions, manage updates, administer and manage each EDI data platform instance, and use a management console to interact with OSDU APIs.

The fleet of EDI deployments for all Express for EDI customers is fully managed using consistent automated deployment and update pipelines that are maintained by the Express for EDI service and validated for each OSDU Data Platform milestone release. Customers schedule fully automated updates to their instances when they choose and can set up automated snapshots of each instance’s data on a schedule that they select. As a result, customers can have confidence that their data in their deployed data platform instances will remain consistently available to support their business.

Customers can see their current Express for EDI fully managed service charges in the EDI billing portal. Authorized customer users can stop and start data platform instance services to manage and control costs. Customers can terminate EDI data platform instances whenever they choose, and only pay for what they use.

Express for Energy Data Insights removes the burden of OSDU Data Platform installation, setup, and access and allows customer teams to easily take advantage of OSDU Data Platform milestone releases as they become available.

The Express for EDI service is delivered and supported by 47Lining, Hitachi Digital Services - AWS' selected strategic delivery partner for as-a-Service fulfillment of Energy Data Insights. Express for EDI includes support from AWS for the underlying AWS Energy Data Insights data platform distribution.

OSDU is a trademark of The Open Group.

Benefits

Aligned to the OSDU Standard

Leverage repeatable deployments to easily take advantage of the OSDU standard, access a diverse ecosystem, and eliminate reliance on point solutions.

Enterprise Ready

Express for Energy Data Insights is based on the AWS distribution of the OSDU Data Platform and takes advantage of the security features of the AWS cloud. Each milestone release of the AWS distribution undergoes an application security review provided by AWS, and Express for EDI undergoes cyber security review provided by Hitachi Digital Services. By subscribing to the AWS distribution in a repeatable as-a-Service model, you can deploy the platform in a push-button manner to unlock enterprise-grade capabilities for security, operations, and support.

Offered as-a-Service

Get started quickly and without significant upfront costs. PaaS and SaaS fulfillment models convert CapEx to OpEx and offloads maintenance and updates while keeping your teams in control of your data and cloud deployment footprint.

Account and Billing

Once you subscribe from your AWS account in AWS Marketplace, 47Lining fulfills your subscription within a SaaS AWS account that 47Lining provides or within a PaaS AWS account that you provide. If you choose a dedicated-tenant subscription, your data platform deployment will reside in an AWS account dedicated to your organization. If you choose a multi-tenant subscription, 47Lining creates a new data partition dedicated to your organization in an EDI data platform instance shared with other multi-tenant subscribers, in an AWS account that 47Lining manages.

Pricing is based on an on-demand model designed to minimize barriers to evaluation, learning and adoption of the OSDU standard and the most recent supported milestone release of the OSDU® Data Platform. You pay only for what you use with hourly pricing, and can unsubscribe whenever you'd like. Your pricing is predictable - with SaaS subscriptions, all underlying AWS services are included in your subscription, and with PaaS subscriptions, underlying AWS services are billed as normal to your AWS fulfillment account. Please see also Express for EDI Pricing.

Each month, AWS Marketplace charges for Express for Energy Data Insights will be included on the AWS invoice for the AWS account from which you subscribed.
